Studying the Advanced Diploma in Visual Communication with Raffles Design Institute

Course Overview

The aim of the program is to expose students to a well-balanced course of study encompassing the fundamental theories and the most up-to-date technical skills in design. In addition, students are required to put the knowledge and skills into practice in a variety of design exercises and projects. Underpinned by solid foundation of design, students will be introduced to more advanced design disciplines in visual communication such as Visual Identity System, Packaging Design, Advertising, Publication Design, Independent Research, Portfolio Design, Design Studio and more. The curriculum of the program will be delivered in a mix of teaching tactics ranging from lectures and seminars to tutorials and various assessment methods including assignments, presentations, portfolios, research, and quizzes. Throughout the program, emphasis will be put on the conceptual abilities and aesthetic sensibilities of the students. The main objective of the program is clearly about enabling students to develop effective designs with strategic communication purposes.

Studying the Course

Students have 8 terms in total to complete the Advanced Diploma in Visual Communication. Each term runs for 11 weeks of study including the exam week.

Entry Requirements

Completion of the Raffles Institute of Design Foundation Program or 3 GCE ‘O’ levels or international high school. Other qualifications will be considered and approved on a case by case basis. Students applying for the Advanced Diploma program must show evidence of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent 550 for TOEFL paper based to demonstrate their English language proficiency. Students who do not meet the English language requirement are required to take an appropriate English language proficiency placement and speaking tests to determine their English language proficiency level before the institute recommends the next course of action, All courses are conducted in English. Students must have the ability to understand, speak and write fluently in English.
